Sian Gale

Sian is one of the two founding directors of Pawb. Her main role within the company is to broaden the customer base by developing new projects and to provide strategic guidance on key activities. She also delivers business start-up support and business coaching to individuals.

Sian started her career in the media industry working in the production department of HTV Wales. She left the broadcaster to pursue her career as a freelance Production Manager specialising in documentary and drama. With a passion for travel and an interest in diverse cultures she worked on a broad range of documentaries including the Cree Indians in Canada, the steelworks in the Ukraine and music in Mali and Senegal. She has a degree in sociology and politics and has worked on a range of social action documentaries as a Production Manager/Researcher covering the return of the miners to Tower Colliery in the South Wales Valleys, women in prison, domestic violence and mental health.

Following her career in the media Sian joined the UK wide broadcasting charity BSS where she became manager for Wales. The main activities included providing information and support to viewers following television and radio programmes as well as the management of the S4C viewers’ helpline. This is where she met her now co-director Aelwyn Williams. Restructuring within the charity in 2002 gave Sian and Aelwyn the opportunity of establishing their own company Pawb.

Sian has been directly involved in managing the highly successful Potentia project for the former WDA and more recently the Welsh Assembly Government. The aim is to help certain under-represented groups throughout Wales to set up their own enterprises and provide consultancy and training for mainstream business support providers. This has given Sian the opportunity to apply and develop her skills in equality, diversity and business support as well as building key relationships in these areas throughout the UK and internationally.

Aelwyn Williams

Aelwyn is one of the cofounders of Pawb, and takes a lead in planning and implementing many of the company’s projects and ongoing business. He also develops new projects and is responsible for overseeing the technical and technological aspects of the company.

Originally from Gwynedd, he has lived and worked in several different cities and countries before settling in Cardiff. A Welsh-speaker, he is also fluent in Spanish, having worked in the Basque Country for five years, as a language teacher and translator. He attended Leeds University as both undergraduate and for his postgraduate studies, which concentrated on the effectiveness of bilingual education policies.

After returning to Wales, he joined Broadcasting Support Services as a project officer responsible for the management of a broad range of projects including the S4C Viewers Hotline. He had the opportunity of actively participating in corporate level initiatives for the UK charity such as the successful Investors in People team. Aelwyn has a wealth of project management experience, having co-ordinated, recruited, supervised and delivered everything from short-term helplines to IVR and SMS services for the whole range of broadcast genres. He also has production experience and is used to working with both broadcasters and individual production companies. He particularly enjoys researching and writing support material for documentary and current affairs, and has a portfolio of web sites and projects completed for both S4C and the BBC.

Aelwyn has extensive involvement with the voluntary sector and various community initiatives, chairing local regeneration groups and taking an active part on the management committee of a successful drugs charity in Cardiff, as well as participating in sector research groups and conferences.
